AssistantJoining us as an Assistant you will commence a 5 week induction programme on day one which is completed on the job. Your Manager guides and coaches you through this structured programme which covers; Pawnbroking skills, Retail skills, Cheque Cashing, Other Services provided by H&T and the in-house computer systems. Following completion of the 5 week induction you will attend a one day Induction & Assessment Course which reviews all you have learned in your first 5 weeks and assesses competence through practical assessments on jewellery testing and a multiple choice questionnaire.

On the successful completion of the Induction Programme, you are encouraged to commence the Company’s “Stair Step” programme which is designed to
encourage staff to learn more in-depth aspects of pawnbroking and by developing your skills, the Company rewards you financially by providing a salary increase on the successful completion of each “Step”.

In depth knowledge on Diamonds and Gold to enable you to enhance your pawnbroking and retail skills, the Company rewards you financially by providing a salary increase on the successful completion of each “Step”.

To complement this development, an Assistant is encouraged to attend the training courses on; Advance Jewellery Training - this provides in depth knowledge on Diamonds and Gold to enable you to enhance your pawnbroking and retail skills and a Customer Service Course – this is designed to develop your sales techniques.

Excellent customer service skills are a must for anyone wishing to join our Company as an Assistant. If you have previous retail experience it would be an advantage, however pawnbroking or financial services experience are not necessary as we will provide all the training to enable you to develop these skills on the job.
In return for your commitment and hard work we offer an attractive package which commences between £11,000 - £12,000 per annum, with salary increases on the completion of our Stair Step programme. In addition we also offer staff cash incentives throughout the year and an annual bonus, life assurance, contributory pension after 1 year service, annual holidays and company sick pay after a qualifying period.
